Barack Obama is Waist Deep in Corruption

The nature and extent of Barack Obama’s personal corruption becomes ever clearer as the murky details of his recent purchase of a multi-million-dollar mansion (six bedrooms, four fireplaces, a four-car garage and 5 1/2 baths, a double steam shower, a marble powder room, a wine cellar, a music room, a library, a solarium, beveled glass doors and a granite-floored kitchen) are unraveled. Here’s the story so far.

(1) January 2005. Obama takes his brand new seat in the U.S. Senate.

(2) February 2005. Obama gets a loan to buy a $2 million house in a deluxe Chicago suburb from Northern Trust bank. Although the average interest rate is 6% Obama somehow gets a rate of just 5.6%. Although the usual maximum amount for a loan is $650,000 Obama somehow gets $1.3 million.

(3) June 2005. The wife of Obama’s fundraising guru Tony Rezko (who has now been “convicted of 16 counts in an influence-peddling scheme that reached the highest levels of Illinois state government”) purchases a vacant lot adjoining the Obama target property from the same current owner for the full asking price, $625,000.

(4) Suddenly, the owner of the home becomes willing to sell it to Obama for just $1.6 million or a whopping $300,000 less than the asking price. The closing occurs on the same day that Rezko’s wife closes her deal.

(5) January 2006. Rezko’s wife sells 1,500 square feet worth of the property she bought to Obama for $100,000.

(6) February 2007. Rezko’s wife sells the rest of her vacant lot to a developer for $575,000 and nets a $50,000 profit.

So Obama managed to get a massive, unprecedented sweetheart deal both in terms of the price he paid and the financing he obtained, and he got it not only by trading on his new influence as a U.S. Senator but by utilizing the corrupt services of his now-convicted henchman to pull the strings. If any discount on Obama’s home was appropriate, then a discount on the vacant lot was also appropriate. Did Rezkos’s wife pay the full price to compensate the owner for giving Obama a sweetheart price? Did Obama improperly use his influence to win a sweetheart loan, perhaps in exchange for promises of legislative help for his banker? Current ethics laws don’t require senators to declare their home finance deals, but some senators have called for a reform of this provision. Obama hasn’t. Why not?

These are the questions to be answered as a grand jury begins its investigation of official corruption in Illinois following the Rezko conviction. Will the trail they follow lead to Obama’s doorstep?

Change you can believe in?

Also, if these were reasons not to vote someone into office the White House would be empty!

But Obama says he’s different! He claims to be ”change we can believe in”! He’s lying! He’s just a usual politician, the same as all the others, by your own admission. If you encourage corruption and dishonesty by our leaders, you should not be surprised when they act that way.

Kim, honestly i was just joking.

The only reason you post crap like this is to get folks in a heated discussion. But I understand, you do what you gotta do.

I know you were joking! But corruption by presidential candidates isn’t funny! I don’t consider our country’s future, which dramatically influences the world, to be a laughing matter. I’m funny that way I guess.

By now it’s settled that corruption cannot be uprooted at any level. Therefore, it should not surprise anyone if some string-pulling was there somewhere.

It’s no big deal anyway. Dig deep enough, and you’ll find similar muck about McCain, too. Nobody is different in that sense.

But yes Obama is different, indeed. He is black, for one, and he speaks remarkably well.

Besides, what’s the alternative? McCain? To him Iran trains Al-Qaeda. And he keeps saying it three times over. I am sure Americans don’t want that kind of President.

Apparently, Obama is already in the White House. He just has to shift his luggage.

That’s what they said about Thomas Dewey. But Harry Truman actually moved in.

Is Obama more knowledgeable on Iraq? He has no experience with foreign policy whatsoever. At least McCain knows what war is from first-hand experience.

The last time America elected a candidate with so little experience was JFK. We got Vietnam and the Bay of Pigs. Want that repeated?

Barack Obama is the change that Americans can really believe in. The Republicans tried to be goody-goody with India after Richard Nixon's disastrous policy towards the world's greatest democracy during the Bangladesh Liberation War that pushed India closer to the USSR.

After a decade and half they started mending ways and George Bush Sr. started a few India-friendly policies. Alas, the Gulf War I put a period to Bush's ambition of a second term in the White House. Then came Bill Clinton, one of the greatest ever presidents to serve America, his personal character notwithstanding.

Yesterday, Barack Obama showing remarkable depth and knowledge in foreign affairs paid glowing tributes to India's greatest war hero who died a couple of days back - Field Marshal SHFJ (Sam Bahadur) Manekshaw - the chief architect of India's crushing victory over Pakistan in 1971 despite Nixon's and the Chinese support to them thus creating a nation - Bangladesh. Point to be noted is that Obama was just a young boy when that happened. During that time, the so-called American war hero and prez wannabe John McCain was enjoying his stay at the Hanoi Hilton.

The Republicans act so good for the Indians, yet an ex-military man aspiring for the presidency of the United States fails to pay tribute to one of the greatest heroes of a country that they desperately need to be friends with for strategic and economic reasons.

Nixonian hangover? If that is so, American Indians MUST NOT vote for McCain.

The Republicans are an embarrassment and dangerous for the world.

Kim you are really much of a debate generator. Yes Corruption is no good but like the sins we commit day and night, the level matters.
Now that you’ve known of Obama’s could you please be honest just even to yourself and show your nationalistic Credence atleast by acting ”Inspector Derrick” and dig out McCain’s too.
You will atleast find something there too i believe. Goodluck!

Do you think it excuses Obama’s corruption that McCain is also corrupt?

If A commits a robbery, does it mean we can’t prosecute B, who also robs, until we catch A?

I wonder if there is any data whatsoever that would convince you not to support Obama. Aren’t you basically treating him like a cult, blindly supporting him regardless of the facts?

McCain is not holding himself out as being a special, new kind of politician. Obama is doing that, and trading on it. He isn’t different, and that’s a fact.

Obama has no experience, so we must examine other aspects of his record even more closely, unlike McCain who has a huge amount of experience. When we do, the case for Obama implodes.

These are minor things. No politician in the world is squeaky clean. McCain may also be a corrupt politician if you dug up a little of history. Then people must also take things like mental sharpness, age, motivations etc before electing someone as the president. Obama will serve as a great PR tool to regain USA's lost prestige in the world.

Minor? Tell that to Rezko, he’s in prison. Will it still be minor when Obama is there too?

Lost prestige? Dream on, Canadian. You don’t know the meaning of the word up there.

The day before, rumors started making circulations on the web quoting Bill Clinton that he would support Obama only if he kissed his ass. If that is true, I am sure Bill is apparently concerned that his position as the greatest contemporary US president will be at stake should Obama ascends to the exalted throne. :D

WHEN did Clinton take the title of greatest anything? Obama’s plans for America will destroy this nations growth and kill us off within 5 years.

As much as I dislike Bill Clinton, I think he can see that and wants no part of it.

KIM:

Thanks for the eye-opening article. The situation is very, very scary in the US now. Either way it is highly dangerous for not only the USA but for the entire world. Either it will have a thief as a president or a half-wit zealot who would attack Iran.

Last time America elected a highly experienced president USA got airplane bombed; then followed Afghanistan and Iraq. Elect McCain and you will get Iran as well and may be a dirty bomb down town Manhattan.

God forgive her for she knows not what she is saying.

What you say makes no sense. McCain has quite little experience compared to other presidents. Only a lot compared to a total lightweight like Obama.

Please think a little more before you comment.

the only true change candidate was Dennis Kucinich, and the mainstream media made sure to destroy him completely - with the complicity of the over deified Tim Russert I might add.

If there are people who think Kucinich does what he does based on ego, spend some time with the man...why do you think Gore Vidal would have held a fundraiser for him?

Well...from all ur replies, I feel that u are rather passionate about this subject and have become somewhat emotionally involved. U seem to be experiencing something called ’devil effect’ or ’reverse halo effect’(try out wiki). Of course u have not directly endorsed McCain, but u have kept a higher moral standard for Obama(because he is promising a new brand of politics?).
I dont see Obama bringing in too much change to the way the oldest democracy in the world functions, but I am sure he will at least bring in a breath of fresh air to the institution.
Elections are a nasty event when none of the cupboard’s skeletons are hidden from public view.
Expecting politicians to be squeaky clean maybe a bit too much to ask for.

American politics has to be the dirtiest game in the world. The sheer desperation in digging up the slightest bit of dirt is quite something to behold. It’s never about the issues; it’s about who gets the most mud to stick.

You are barely scratching the suface here. Let’s get to the good stuff.

Let’s get the real Ayers connections and the REAL Farrakahn connections.. and the REAL and TRUE Anti-American
connections. After-All, we are on the eve of Independence Day!

And no, Senator Dogbama... I don’t mean independence from the tax code and the legality of your past crack cocaine deals with your fellow students and such.
Have you read McCain’s 3R Economic Plan??
It’s kicking into gear and the future for America never looked brighter through progressive Republican McCain’s eyes.

”corruption”, while disappointing in this particular case, really shouldn’t be any surprise. If you want to ”control corruption”, control it in your own life first, sort of a ”let he who is without sin ...” kind of situation.

Ultimately, it doesn’t matter at all who’s in the Oval Office. The Thing We Love To Hate is a perpetual resident there as it is in any seat of power and influence. It’s really a matter of choosing the least of all known evils.

He might still be the best candidate in the field, though that shouldn’t be taken to mean that there are any particularly good candidates to begin with.

Isn’t it all about ”electability”? Yeah, right.

Hello Bobette,

Of the top of my head...
We should seriously count the connections to the terrorists Ayers, Farrakahn, Weather Underground, Black Panthers and the like... But let’s leave them out.

Obama does not like the working class in any shape or form except to ’polish his car and shoes’, no matter what he says. His economic plan that taxes workers who strive to earn more is totally un-American.

His plan to tax the investor class who normally invests in USA businesses (Google ’Angel Investors’) will destroy the USA within 5 years.

The Robin Hood grandstanding apporoach is wrong and totally unfeasable in the political and economic realm. He will destroy America’s economic system with his socialistic ideals. The American poor will suffer under Obama’s free-yet-not-enough-to-do-anything-with-it tax gifts. This will lead to sales of a lot of booze and drugs.. but it will be of no use otherwise.

The funds Obama wants to steal from the very people who invest in America’s working class and give to the dead beat class (those who do not work and refuse to hold down jobs) will cause the new USA small businesses to come to a halt.

We will no longer have the influx of the small businesses that make out country function. The big corps are already overseas and with the smaller business creation base taxed so badly, the new mainstay of American jobs will crash.

Obama pretends to know what he is saying since his only experience comes from telling welfare recipients in Chicago’s section 8 housing (free rent) what to do with their money.

His economic view is so microeconomic that he cannot see the effects of what he is planning for new tax plans.

You cannot tax and spend the way Obama wants to do without thinking ahead and planning for the inevitable response of giving a class of people a few beer bucks, while tacking away the main component of American growth.

I may have lost translation there.. But I am typing quickly before I go out and make plans to create MORE JOBS for more Americans who want to work. More solutions for problems that must be solved before anything else can yake place... That’s micro-planning for macroeconomics.

We need to spread the good ole’ McCain 3R Plan as that is exactly what the nation needs and it will affect the world’s economy in a better way than you’d expect.

You’re very smart Bobette, and I know you will pick up on ’this’ over the hype of Obama’s lawyers have designed for his campaign.

The special’interest groups that surround Obama are only around him due to the promises of MONEY he will give them. No other reason, as they truly know (once they are shaken awake) that Obama’s plans are very very bad for America.
