Putin's Russia is Destroying its ChildrenOf all the criticisms that can be made of Vladimir Putin’s Russia, by far the most damning is its failure to carry out the basic biological function of population replacement.

Far more Russians pass from the earth each year than are born. Only 21 countries in the whole world have a higher mortality rate than Russia, and its rate of 16/1,000 is double that of the United States. The mortality rate has risen steadily through Putin’s years in power (it is up nearly 15% since 2003), with the result that Russia experiences a net loss of up to 1 million from its population every year.

The only thing Putin has been able to think of to deal with that reality is to bribe Russian parents to have more children. This classic Russian “solution” is actually worse than the existing problem. People don’t want children, but they do want money. So they take the money, have the child — and then what happens? That child will be lucky to live to see his 18th birthday, and if he does he’ll certainly be impacted by the fact that the only reason he exists is because he got paid.

Meanwhile, nothing is done about Russia’s alarming mortality rate, which sees the average Russian man fail to reach his sixtieth year of life (Russia does not rank in the top 100 nations of the world for average male lifespan). From AIDS to smoking to house fires, Russia’s population is being wiped out by every scourge and disease imaginable, while the Kremlin ignores the problem and spends its cash buzzing America and Britain with strategic bombers and sending weaponry to the likes of Venezuela, Syria and Iran.

Here’s an overview of what’s happening to Russian children and their families as a result:

(1) 2 out of every 5 Russian children are victims of family violence

(2) 50,000 Russian children flee their homes each year

(3) 11,000 Russian children are currently imprisoned

(4) Last year alone, 2,000 Russian children were murdered by their parents

(5) 4.5 million Russian children live in single-parent homes without child support

(6) One Russian woman is murdered by her husband every 40 minutes

(7) Russia and Belarus lead the world in divorces

(8) One Russian commits suicide every ten minutes

(9)Russia has the fifth-highest murder rate on the planet

Russia’s divorce rate is one-third greater than the U.S. Its suicide rate is four times higher than that of the America’s, and its child and spousal murder rates are ten times higher.

Having liquidated opposition parties in parliament and most independent news media, the Russian people are largely ignorant of this looming crisis. Putin has not been challenged to provide a policy response, but has instead erected what Russians call a “Potemkin Village” — a snappy coat of paint on the outside, only rubble within.

These power hungry people have ruined Russia.

One other thing you forgot to add is the sexual abuse of women is reaching all time high in Russia.

Foreign countries are taking care of Russian kids by adopting more of them than that of Russians. Now, Russia is imposing restrictions on it to halt the process of sending kids to other countries. For Russians, children are garbage but good in Russia.

I have read a similar story on an Indian news website (Here) revealing the conditions of Indian kids. it says Two million children in India die and turn into statistics every year. It means 6,000 children are dying everyday.

I would blame Russian media partly for it because the Russian media starts passing quick judgment on the adoptive parents. They start telling people that the foreigners are adopting Russian children to abuse them and to kill them too. They just force Russian authority to change the existing law of adapting children by foreigners.

What's interesting is that the most fertile segment of the Russian population is the Muslim minority. @ Muslims reproduce/marries, Russia could become a majority Muslim nation within decades but oh yes it's hard to count them when they keep vanishing wearing suicide belts.

It clearly means that the future of Russia is dark because the children are getting bad treatment in Russia. What I have read about in in different reports - 20% of all children say their parents beat or otherwise abuse them. It drives more than 50,000 children to flee their homes per year. It drives them to become criminals too.

Really what a stark difference in policies of the two good allies- Russia and China. One's paying to reproduce and other one's punishing for reproducing. There's hardly any other field where they might vary.

Violence against children is one of the most serious problems Russia is facing at present. It is happening due to several factors including high rates of alcoholism, widespread tolerance in the country for such behavior against children, and loopholes in the legal system, not enough to punish violent parents. David was right when he wrote the future of Russia is dark.

has it nothing to do with the collapse of the USSR or is it the God's judgment for inflicting Communism upon the world? Whatever, but i still don't trust statistics given by a communist country.

Majority of children is also involved in begging across the country. You can find in any Russian city child beggars near the churches and cemeteries. These places are the traditional begging grounds for war veterans and widows but now you can find more professional young beggars here. A fourteen-years-old beggar said his parents know he was here.

Parental violence is a truth in almost every country but in Russia it has widespread problem. It seems the level of alcoholism and lack of social sanctions are some of the driving forces causing parental violence at extreme.

Well, you have to ask yourself why? And the reasons are pretty obvious.

What’s happening in Russia? Until know Russia remains in isolation of whether it is part of Asia or Europe. Too bad to hear that the country’s children are abused and violated. Its government needs to reexamine its existing programs on the children’s welfare.

whatever is happening in Russia, Good or bad, is solely their issue and responsibilities to meet. But why others are that much bothered with their problems and that too sitting thousands of miles away, I wonder. After its fall in 1991, courtesy to west, Russia is going through a sluggish phase and such problems are not beyond imagination. However, one thing I can understand pretty clearly, the rising clout of Russia under Putin’s presidency is something west is wary of. so my dear don’t look for loopholes only when you haven’t got the eye to praise something good and that is the reason why Russia wry everything American. This leg pulling will do no good but it’s time for the World in general and US in particular to recognize Russia equal to US, as long as we want to live in a world free of conflicts. Amen!

It is a pity that Putin in trying to resurrect Russia as a superpower is unable to pay any serious attention to the social problems that the country seems to be facing. This is a very alarming post since if the things are so bad, they would continue to remain so since Putin and his authoritarian regime would be loath to receive any humanitarian lessons from outside.
